Originally cast in Greensboro, North Carolina, and at possibly 100 years old (no way to know for sure) this gorgeous Wysong and Miles Stroke Sander Table was sitting in the cold and dark depths of a factory hidden in the rural countryside of Pennsylvania (along with two others).  However, I couldn’t just walk in and purchase this incredible relic of the industrial age despite having knowledge of its whereabouts.  It had been listed in an industrial machine auction and it had to be bid on and won fair and square.  The race was on, and on October 19th 2018, I was fortunate enough to win the auction (along with the two others as well!).

I have dedicated countless hours of meticulously breathing life back into the old stoke sander table. For me, this is so much more than mechanical repair and restoration, this is exciting and passionate creation of art.  With many of these authentic relics from the industrial age, there is little to no natural patina that remains.  With the decades of age comes decades of rust, dirt, and scale.  However, you need not trouble yourself with these concerns as I was able to craft a beautiful finish from the natural cast iron itself.  Not only in from an aesthetic standpoint, but from a functionality standpoint as well.  Originally frozen and nonfunctional, the mechanical functionality has been completely restored.  The table raises effortlessly and can be easily performed with one hand.  It has been brought back to life as a unique office desk, coffee table, or dining room table if you prefer (I have one of these as my personal dining room table).  Because of the 36” steel rails, it can accommodate a plethora of different glass top sizes. If you don’t like the boxed steel rails in the pictures, worry not!  I can fabricate flat steel bars, or craft natural wood arms instead.  Rest easily because with either of those other arm options, there is not even additional cost involved!  The height is fully adjustable up and down with a few turns of the handwheel (No crank handle was found with the table when acquired.  In wanting to keep it completely authentic, I did not add one.  If you would like one added, I am happy to do so). Adjustments in height from a mere 24” to over 35” puts the scope of possibilities in your hands.  Soon you could be working, crafting, creating, or simply relaxing around this genuine and authentic relic of the industrial age.

This once forgotten and disregarded work of art from the industrial age could have been destined for the scrap heap, instead, it has been revitalized and reborn into a conversation and centerpiece for years to come.  Don’t delay in making it yours or messaging me about customizing it your way!
