At possibly 100 years old (no way to know for sure) this gorgeous Yates American No. 1 Table Saw (Serial Number B-17159) was sitting collecting dust in the bulk storage of an antique machine dealer for years. I had no idea how they were able to obtain it, but I knew I wanted it, and knew what I wanted to do with it. After several years of patiently watching and waiting, an opportunity opened up for me to finally purchase, restore and bring back to life this rare gem.

I have dedicated countless hours of meticulously breathing life back into the old saw. For me, this is so much more than mechanical repair and restoration, this is exciting and passionate creation of art. With many of these authentic relics from the industrial age, there is little to no natural patina that remains. With the decades of age comes decades of rust, dirt, and scale. However, you need not trouble yourself with these concerns as I was able to craft a beautiful finish from the natural cast iron itself. Not only in from an aesthetic standpoint, but from a functionality standpoint as well. The mechanical raising and tilting of the tabletop flows as smoothly as the day it was manufactured. It has been brought back to life as a desk or drafting table with locally grown and cut black walnut arms and a 30x50" glass top. The table top is fully adjustable up and down and the top moves from a flat 0 degrees to a nearly vertical 45. Height is adjustable too, as it adjusts from 32” standard table height to 40” for bar height. Soon you could be working, crafting, creating, or simply relaxing around this muti purpose relic of the industrial age. With a few turns of the crank to lay the glass flat, one could even throw some bar stools together around it and spend your next poker night!

This once forgotten gentle giant of the industrial age could have been destined for the scrap heap, instead, it has been revitalized and reborn into a conversation and centerpiece for years to come. Don’t delay in making it yours!
